Anandpur Sahib, March 12

A day after the Shiromani Akali Dal suffered a defeat in the elections, the senior party leadership did not attend the political conference held at Hola Mohalla here today.

Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal used to attend the conference every year in the past.

Barring local MP Prem Singh Chandumajra, his son, who was elected MLA from Sanaur yesterday, and former MLA Chaudhary Nand Lal, no other senior leader came to address the gathering.

Chandumajra said the SAD-BJP government undertook a number of development works in the state and maintained law and order during its 10-year regime.

The party, however, failed in convincing the people of the state in this regard. Cashing upon it, the Congress with a false propaganda against Akalis and fake promises gained power, he alleged.

Others who were present on the occasion included SGPC general secretary Amarjit Singh Chawla, district president of SAD (women) Kulwinder Kaur and Ranjit Singh Goodwill.
