Dehradun, August 1

Shopkeepers of Dilaram Bazaar on the Rajpur Road downed shutters here today in protest against alleged highhandedness of personnel of the city patrol unit (CPU). The situation became tense when the CPU personnel started penalizing shopkeepers for parking their vehicles on the road outside their shops.

The agitated shopkeepers had heated arguments with the policemen. They argued that they had parked their vehicles legitimately behind the white line but the CPU personnel were adamant on challaning them. The shopkeepers in protest downed shutters of their shops and started shouting slogans against the police.

As the situation became tense, Dehradun SSP Pushpak Jyoti himself came to the spot and pacified the shopkeepers.
