Mohali, December 17

The Mohali court today awarded a three-year jail term to a man for marrying the second time without divorcing his first wife.

The Mohali court of judicial magistrate (first class) Surbhi Prashar pronounced three-year term and a fine of Rs 1,000 to Parkash Singh.

Parkash Singh’s first marriage was solemnised in 1964.

He again got married to Jasvir Kaur in 1998 after the completion of 34 years of his first marriage to Manjit Kaur.

A complaint in this regard was made by Parkash Singh’s first wife Manjit Kaur following which a case of cheating was registered against him at the Phase I police station on August 28 in 2010.

In her complaint, Manjit Kaur claimed that she got to know about his second wife through a ration card in which her husband had mentioned the name of Jasvir Kaur as his wife.

The accused was later bailed out.
