Extradited Babbar Khalsa militant Jagtar Singh Tara, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Chief Minister Beant Singh assassination case, was on Monday remanded in judicial custody till February 9 in an attempt to murder case registered against him in 1991.

Duty Magistrate Anup Singh sent the militant in judicial custody till February 9.

Meanwhile, he was handed over to Bhogpur police on an arrest warrant for questioning in another case registered against him in Jalandhar.

Tara, who was extradited recently from Thailand, was booked for allegedly firing at a police team near rail road here on March 26, 1991.

He was then arrested and released on bail thereafter.

After that he jumped the bail and was declared proclaimed offender.

The militant was brought to India by a team of Punjab Police after being extradited from Bangkok on January 16.
