The eternal love story of Radha & Krishna

As many as 50 artistes (between five and 50 years of age) of Pracheen Kala Kendra in collaboration with the Rock Garden Society presented a dance ballet ‘Radha Krishna’ at the Rock Garden here today.

Written, choreographed and directed by Dr Samira Koser, the well-rehearsed composition presented episodes of divine and eternal love between Lord Krishna and consort Radha.

All related episodes were presented through traditional Kathak ‘mudras’ and dance elements such as ‘gat’, ‘nikas thaat’, ‘aamad’, ‘uthaan’, ‘chakradar paran’, ‘upaj’ , ‘pramelu’ and so on were presented with captivating and graceful movements and footwork.

Dancers attempted to portray expressions of ‘bhavas’ in ‘nritya’ as their guru Dr Sameera Koser excelled as the ‘sutradhar’. Chief guest Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Secretary, Home and Culture, blessed the artists.

Chetan’s flute recital captivates audience

An entrancing spell of flute recital by acclaimed maestro Chetan Joshi captivated the audience at a special programme of classical music organised by Sanskar Bharti in collaboration with the Haryana Kala Parishad and Pracheen Kala Kendra at Randhawa Auditorium here.

A proponent of Guru-Shishya tradition, Chetan Joshi, presently disciple of Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, has evolved a unique style and introduced innovations in the sphere of flute playing, which have now become part of his repertoire.

Pandit Joshi commenced his recital with delineation of complex raga ‘Jog Kauns’, evolved from raga ‘Jog’ and Chander Kons, by unfolding the raga features through an elaborate alaap, jod alaap and Jod jhalla and formed its pristine raga form. He presented gats in ‘Rupak’ and ‘teen taal’ respectively. The audience was thrilled to relish the recital as Chetan doled out fast paced (drut laya) composition in raga ‘Bahar’ before concluding with a melodious ‘dhun’ based on raga ‘Chaiti’. Joshi weaved parabolic waves of melody while reveling in lower ‘khairaj saptak’.

Young Ustad Mehmood Khan provided matching accompaniment on ‘tabla’ as also Priya and Pinki on ‘taanpuras’. Chief guest IAS Anurag Aggarwal, Secretary Home and Culture; Sanjay Singhal, Director, Haryana Kala Parishad; Dr Shobha Koser, registrar; Sajal Koser, secretary, Pracheen Kala Kendra; and Dr Saubhagya Vardhan Badal, president, Sanskar Bharti honoured the artiste.
