The authorities have shifted the nursing and other staff of the trauma centre at Mukand Lal Civil Hospital here after a rape incident.

Sources said besides changing the staff, Officiating Civil Surgeon (OCS) Dr Ramesh Kumar also marked an inquiry into the incident to the Medical Superintendent of the hospital to ascertain the negligence of the staff. A 20-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped by Vijay Kumar, an outsourced employee, in an emergency room of the trauma centre on July 6.

Sources said the staff nurses were shifted on Wednesday, while Class IV employees were shifted today to other places in the district.

The sources said the Health Department was considering to terminate the contract of the private company which had provided the staff, including alleged rapist Vijay Kumar, to the hospital in May

"No negligence on part of the staff will be tolerated. We have issued a show-cause notice to M/s Oscar Securities and Fire Services which provided the staff," said Kumar.
