Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (Airy) group president Pushpesh Tripathy yesterday said the UKD would enrol one lakh new members in the state in the next six months.

Addressing a press conference here today, Tripathy said the UKD would shortly start a membership campaign and enrol one lakh new members. He said UKD workers would reach Gairsain on June 17 to offer tributes to the victims of the 2013 Kedarnath disaster.

He expressed reservation on the part of the state government towards indentifying Gairsain as the summer capital of Dehradun. He said the UKD supported Gairsain as the permanent capital of Uttarakhand and there was no question of calling it the summer capital.

Tripathy said the UKD will also shortly start "chetwani rallies" in the state in order to sensitise the people about anti-Uttarakhand policies of both the Congress and BJP. He accused Uttarakhand MPs of failing to protect the interests of Uttarakhand at the Centre. Former UKD (Airy) president Kashi Singh Airy, Harish Pathak and Om Uniyal were present on the occasion.
