SONEPAT: A vigilance team caught Vinod Kumar, a sub-inspector in the Food and Civil Supplies Department at Gohana, while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from ration depot holder Maman Singh of Sikanderpur Majra at Ambedkar Chowk in Gohana today.

A vigilance team caught Vinod Kumar, a sub-inspector in the Food and Civil Supplies Department at Gohana, while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from ration depot holder Maman Singh of Sikanderpur Majra at Ambedkar Chowk in Gohana today.

The vigilance team led by Inspector Jai Bhagwan from the Rohtak vigilance office took Vinod Kumar in custody and booked him under the Prevention of Corruption Act

Sources said Maman Singh lodged a complaint alleging that Vinod had demanded Rs 20,000 as a bribe for positive verification of the record of the ration depot.

The matter was brought to the notice of DC Rajiv Ratan, who deputed Bansi Lal, Naib Tehsildar, Gohana, as duty magistrate. As soon as Maman Singh handed over the marked currency notes to Vinod Kumar, the vigilance team caught him and recovered the amount from his possession. —TNS
