Abhimanyu Kohar (26) is perhaps one of the youngest activists of the Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh to sit on an indefinite fast in support  of the demand for a Lokpal and issues of farmers of the country. Kohar continued with the fast for the sixth day on Monday.

“A doctor was called on Sunday night to attend to Kohar  after his condition deteriorated, as he had not taken solid food for the past six days,” said Akshay Narwal, another member of the mahasangh.

He said that 24 activists of the mahasangh had arrived here to carry on with the agitation in support of the demand for a Lokpal raised by veteran social activist Anna Hazare. Kohar, he added, is the national spokesperson for the mahasangh. Two activists also sit on a chain fast in Kohar’s support every day.

Kohar passed BTech from Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal (Sonepat), in 2015. “I am deeply motivated by Anna Hazare to be part of the agitation that is aimed at improving the living conditions of farmers,” said Kohar.

Social activist Krishan Kumar said various bodies were supporting their agitation.
