4 held in Jind for ‘contract’ killing

KURUKSHETRA: The Jind police have arrested four persons-- Banarasi, Bijender, Rajkumar and Bhanu--in connection with the alleged ‘contract killing’ of 25-year-old Anand Kumar.

The Jind police have arrested four persons-- Banarasi, Bijender, Rajkumar and Bhanu--in connection with the alleged ‘contract killing’ of 25-year-old Anand Kumar.

The police claim to have recovered one .32 bore revolver, a pistol and nine cartridges from the accused.

Anand, a resident of Shiv Colony in Jind city, was shot dead on June 5. The accused had pumped 14 bullets into the deceased.

Shashank Anand, SP, said an NRI had given a ‘supari’ to eliminate Anand.

He said the deceased’s father had a property dispute with a relative residing abroad. He said another NRI had hire contract killers to settle scores with the deceased’s family.

The police claims that Rs 20 lakh was allegedly paid to the criminals.

Meanwhile, the police are looking for Joginder of Dhamad village in Rohtak, who is suspected to have mediated the alleged contract killing.

Two other targets: The Jind SP said the accused confessed during questioning that they had also been paid money to kill two others, including a Panipat-based advocate.

The SP said the accused were found involved in at least four crimes, including attempt to murder and kidnapping in Haryana and New Delhi.
