AAP to gherao CM’s houseon May 27

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will gherao Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s residence in Karnal on May 27. This was announced by Naveen Jaihind, state AAP convener, here today.

He pointed out that several incidents of rape and murder had taken place in the state in the last few days, but the state government had not shown any seriousness.

“The law and order situation is at its nadir, but the government and its law-enforcing agencies are in deep slumber, unperturbed by events,” Jaihind alleged.

He cited the recent gang rape and murder of a Sonepat girl, which had reminded the people of the Nirbhaya case in Delhi.

He asserted that a state police survey had revealed that 85.2 per cent women feared that they could face eve-teasing during travel.

The AAP leader alleged that several incidents of gang war had been witnessed in the recent past and criminals were not scared of firing in court complexes.

He alleged that women police stations in the state were of little use because of shortage of staff. He said they would gherao Khattar’s residence in Karnal since it was his Assembly constituency.
