Gurugram, November 20

A Gurugram court reserved its order on the bail plea filed by bus conductor Ashok Kumar during hearing today. The CBI counsel told the court that it would not give clean chit to anyone till the investigation was over.

The statement comes amidst speculation that the CBI has cleared the name of Ashok Kumar, who was arrested as the key accused by the Haryana Police after the 7-year-old was found murdered in the school.

Ashok’s counsel Mohit Verma said, “There is no evidence against Ashok and the CBI itself highlighted that in the last hearing. The DNA and FSL reports tabled in the Court today offered nothing incriminating against Ashok.” Verma said one of the key factors that tilted scales in favour of Ashok were the differing statements of the witnesses, especially Harpal, the gardener.

“Harpal had initially claimed that he had seen blood stains on Ashok’s clothes, but later retracted his earlier statement saying the police had asked him to do so,” said Verma. The court reserved its order on the plea till tomorrow.
