Sonepat, April 14

Dr Shaleen, District Magistrate, has promulgated prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the IPC and has banned taking bath in canals with immediate effect. The decision has come after some incidents of drowning in the canals in different areas of the district.

During the summer season, many people, including youths and minors, who don’t have any knowledge of swimming, enter the canal to take bath and are swept away. The DM has asked officials to spread awareness among villagers about the order.
