1 nabbed for raping minor

A 34-year-old man hailing from UP has been nabbed for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in an under-construction building in the Badshahpur area. 

The girl, found unconscious in the basement last night, was in hospital. 

Pawan Kumar Shrivastav, a native of Balahi village, Deoria district, UP, has been booked under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and IPC Section 323. He, working as a labourer at the building, was today produced in a local court, which sent him to judicial custody, the police said.

The incident occurred last night at the building where the girl’s mother worked as a labourer. The accused lured the girl, who was playing with other children, and took her to the basement.

“I noticed that my daughter was missing and her playmates told me that one uncle took her to the basement. I found her lying there while he had fled. There were injuries in her private parts and also cut marks on his lips and cheeks,” the girl’s mother alleged.

Police spokesperson Subhash Bokan said the accused confessed the crime.
