Members of the Prajapati community laid siege to the local subzi mandi on Saturday, not allowing anyone to enter the premises. Following police assurance on action, the protesters dispersed.

They were protesting against alleged police inaction on a complaint of assault and misbehaviour against arhtiyas lodged by a woman over a fortnight ago.

The protesters claimed that despite a complaint, no action had been taken by the police. The woman was allegedly thrashed on October 31 by Paras, a commission agent, and others over money.

Her husband owed money to the commission agent, who took his motorcycle. When the woman and her son went with money, the arhtiya and his colleagues reportedly assaulted and misbehaved with her.
