The district police have failed to make a headway in the the robbery at a gold loan company office in Bhim Goda Chowk on the Panipat-Haridwar highway two weeks ago.

The Panipat police have sought support from the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh police to gather clues about the miscreants who robbed gold worth Rs 4.23 crore.

The police teams also suspect that the robbers might have entered the neighbouring state after committing the crime.

They also verified the mobile details collected by the cyber cell, but they have been unable to trace the miscreants.

The police have also searched data of former criminals and active gangs involved in such crimes in the state as well as in the neighbouring states of Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, but reportedly could not get any clue.

Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma said no robber had been arrested so far, but the police were heading in the right direction to solve the case.

“We have been in constant touch with the UP police, especially with the district police of Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Shamli and the Special Task Force (STF) in Meerut,” he said.

He added the police were working on all possible angles and hoped to nab the culprits soon.

It may be recalled that three armed and masked miscreants robbed the office of the Indian Infoline Finance Limited (IIFL) of gold worth Rs 4.23 crore and Rs 2.45 lakh in cash on January 29. They held three employees of the private company hostage before fleeing.
