Panipat, January 16

Two employees of the power corporation were allegedly attacked and held hostage at Jalalpur-1 village in the district.

In a complaint to the Sanoli police, Radha Krishan stated that he was posted as foreman with the Chhajpur subdivision of the power corporation.

He along with assistant lineman Naushad went to give notices to power defaulters in Jalapur-1 village. Subhash, a resident of the village, was a defaulter and he had an outstanding amount of Rs 35,316 against him, he added.

They also held them hostage in their house and snatched their ID cards and mobile phones and threatened to kill them, he alleged. On a tip-off, a police team reached the village and rescued them.

The Sanoli police have booked Subhash, Satpal, Prakash, Ashok, Sethpal, Vinod, Naresh, Billu, Naresh-2 and Meena Devi, wife of Subhash, under various sections of the IPC. — TNS
