Rohtak couple found murdered

Rohtak, February 13

A couple was found murdered at their house in Naya Padao locality here today, the police have said. Preliminary investigation indicates that they have been stabbed to death.

Ashok (35) of Naya Padao, who had a shop on the Railway road, had married Sonia about seven years ago. Their families were unhappy with their marriage.

“Prime facie, it does not seem to be a case of honour killing,” SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said.

The police were informed about the incident by a woman living in the neighbourhood. She found Sonia lying in a pool of blood in the verandah, while Ashok’s body was in a room.

The police suspected that an acquaintance of the couple had murdered them. “It seemed a guest had visited them last night, for whom tea was prepared. The footage of CCTV cameras installed in the neighbourhood is being examined,” the police have said. — TNS
