Chandigarh, August 9
Just about 10 days after the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association forced “symbolic shutdown” of the High Court against the setting up of the Haryana Administrative Tribunal for adjudicating service matters involving state employees, a Full Court today made it clear that litigants would not be stopped from entering the premises.
Continuing with its decision to abstain from work as part of its strike call to protest against the setting up of the tribunal, the Bar on July 30 had succeeded in “symbolic shutdown of the HC” by denying access to lawyers, litigants and government officials. The judges decided that action as per law would be taken if the litigants were stopped from entering. — TNS
