Three Panipat youths die in UP mishap, 3 injured

PANIPAT: Three youths from the city were killed and three others badly injured in a road mishap near Lalukheri village on the Panipat-Khatima road in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh late last night.

Three youths from the city were killed and three others badly injured in a road mishap near Lalukheri village on the Panipat-Khatima road in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh late last night. They were on their way to Haridwar when the accident occurred.

The deceased have been identified as Anshul (15), son of Rajkumar Mittal; Himanshu (22), son of Sanjay Mittal, both residents of sector 11, Panipat; Rahul (21), son of Rajkumar Aggarwal and resident of Virat Nagar, Panipat. Mohit Tuteja (26), Pramod (26) and Ravinder (26), all residents of the Kalandar Chowk area, were injured in the mishap.

Yad Ram Singh, in charge of Titawi police station in Uttar Pradesh, said, “All six youths were on their way to Haridwar in a Maruti Ertiga car late last night. The mishap took place between Lalukheri village and Titawi around 1.45 am”.

Mohit was driving the car while Ravinder was on the rear seat. Meanwhile, while overtaking a truck, Mohit lost control over the car and it overturned and fell into a trench after hitting a pole and a tree on the roadside, he added.

The police reached the spot and shifted them to the general hospital at Muzaffarnagar where doctors declared three of them brought dead. One of the injured Pramod was referred to the Medical College, Meerut, Yad Ram added.

According to relatives of the deceased youths, the six youths were childhood friends and were going to Haridwar last night to have a dip in the holy Ganga. Anshul and Himanshu, who were killed in the accident, were cousins and were only sons in their families.

The parents of the youths have been informed about the mishap. The bodies will be handed over to the bereaved families after a post-mortem, said Yad Ram.
