Youth gets 10-yr jail in POCSO case

KURUKSHETRA: A youth from Ambala was sentenced to 10 years in jail under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by a local court on Thursday.

A youth from Ambala was sentenced to 10 years in jail under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by a local court on Thursday.

The Additional Session Judge Gagandeep Kaur also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on the convict Vijay Kumar.

On June 24, 2016, a complaint was filed at the Ismailabad police station that Kumar had abducted a minor girl to marry her. The police managed to rescue the girl after a few days of the crime.

Kumar was arrested on August 19, 2016, and he was charged with sexually abusing the girl, kidnapping a minor (363, 366-A IPC) and on other charges.
