AMBALA: A 23-year-old youth was swept away after he allegedly fell into the seasonal Tangri river on Monday.

Ambala, August 13

A 23-year-old youth was swept away after he allegedly fell into the seasonal Tangri river on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Shivam Upadhyay, a resident of UP. He had been living in New Tagore Garden in Ambala Cantt for two years.

Upadhyay’s relatives claimed he fell into the river while observing the flow of water. But there were rumours that he, along with two youths, was swimming in the river when he was swept away.

His cousin Lovekush said, “We have not informed Upadhyay’s family based in UP. He worked as a gardener.”

The police said teams had been constituted to search for Upadhyay and a message has been conveyed to neighbouring districts. — TNS
