SHIMLA: Governor Bandaru Dattatreya today emphasised the need of vibrant new India which had prosperity reaching common man in all walks of life ranging from social, economical and technical spheres which was possible with empowerment of the youth, who were equipped with modern technical education and able to serve the country.

Governor Bandaru Dattatreya today emphasised the need of vibrant new India which had prosperity reaching common man in all walks of life ranging from social, economical and technical spheres which was possible with empowerment of the youth, who were equipped with modern technical education and able to serve the country.

Speaking as the chief guest on the scholarship award distribution ceremony organised by the Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam here today, he called on the students to pursue higher education with skill development.

He also stressed the need to develop scientific temperament in students and focus on character building.

Stressing modernisation while preserving cultural values and heritage, Dattatreya said India had a name in the world in computer science and digitisation. Now, there was need for development in the medical and agricultural sectors also. He expressed happiness that besides the education sector, the corporation was helping the local students, farmers and people in skill development.

Congratulating the students who received the scholarship, the Governor said that real education meant overall personality development. It included better human qualities.

He said Rs 2,000 per month would be given as scholarship to those who had passed with high marks in Class XII and were enrolled in engineering, medical, agriculture or other higher courses. As many as 87 students were awarded scholarships.
