DALHOUSIE: As much as 13.43-kg charas was seized from a car and the police arrested its driver at the Tunnuhatti police checkpoint on the Chamba-Pathankot national highway on Tuesday.

As much as 13.43-kg charas was seized from a car and the police arrested its driver at the Tunnuhatti police checkpoint on the Chamba-Pathankot national highway on Tuesday.

Disclosing this here, Chamba Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Monika Bhutunguru said a police team during check at the Tunnuhatti police checkpoint intercepted an Alto car coming from Salooni side and going towards Pathankot. On checking of the car, 13.43 kg charas was recovered from inside the bonnet of the vehicle, the SP said adding that the car was impounded.

Hence, a case under Sections 20 and 25 of the NDPS Act was registered at the Chowari police station against the vehicle driver Narender Singh (32) of Fagrog village in Salooni tehsil of Chamba district, the SP stated.

However, further investigation in the case was under way, the SP said.
