CM lays stones of Dharamsala Smart City projects

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated and laid foundation stones of various development projects worth Rs 145.43 crore under the Dharamsala Smart City project on Monday.

Sources here said the tender process for many projects for which foundation stones were laid by the Chief Minister was yet to be initiated. The projects include construction of smart road worth Rs 84 crore and construction of integrated command centre worth Rs 24 crore. For other projects, though the tender process had been initiated, it was yet to be finalised.

Sandeem Kadam, Commissioner, Dharamsala Municipal Corporation, said the tender process had been initiated as technical and administration approvals for the projects had been received.

The Chief Minister launched GIS web portal to provide online visibility to citizens on various services available in Dharamsala Smart City to improve local governance and delivery of local services developed at Rs 1.29 crore.

He also launched e-Nagarpalika and smart beacon developed at Rs 1.17 crore and website developed at Rs. 35 lakh to create an integrated web application for citizens to use IT primarily to increase information quality, overall efficiency and effectiveness in government process.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of rooftop solar power plant of Dharamsala. He laid the foundation stone of smart road, intelligent barrier, free bus shelters, parks and playgrounds and inclusive streets.

He also laid the stone of root zone treatment of sewerage and state-of-the-art potable tap water. The root treatment plant involves technology of cleaning water by roots of specialised plants.

To construct and improvise the inner streets of the smart city, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of inclusive streets to be constructed at a cost of Rs 6.82 crore.
