The Forest Department has opened a Nature Park at Babeli in Kullu district. The boating facility is also provided for tourists on the pattern of the Sukhna lake in Chandigarh.
It is the first park in the district which has a musical fountain, waterfall and many other things for children. The park is developed close to National Highway-21, a few kilometres away from Kullu toward Manali.
The department has developed a 100-metre-long artificial lake which is attracting a huge rush of tourists regularly.
Encouraged with the good tourist response, the department is planning to develop a few attraction centres.
Nisha and Amit Grover, a couple from Delhi, said it was an amazing experience. They said, “Due to lack of boating in Kullu district earlier, many tourists preferred river rafting which sometimes proved fatal for many. Now with the start of boating in the park, tourists can enjoy water sports activity without any threat to life.”
The park is constructed at Rs 1.25 crore adjoining the Manali highway at Babeli. A hydel power project and water mill have been set up in the park.
