The Him Anchal Pensioner Sangh, Balh, in Mandi district has urged the state government to constitute a pensioners’ welfare board in the state to protect the rights of pensioners.

Mahender Pal, president of the sangh, said the state government should hike medical allowances from Rs 400 to Rs 1,000.

“We urge the state government to provide the benefit of ‘one rank, one pension’ to retired employees of civil services. The state government should restore the old pension scheme for those employees who were appointed after 2003. There should be a provision on the basis of which the state government can provide jobs in the government sector to dependent of pensioners on compassionate grounds,” he said.

He said a charter of demand had been sent to the Chief Minister for further action. “A delegation of the sangh will meet the Chief Minister over these issues and urge him to take necessary action,” he said.
