Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has impressed upon policy planners to roll out a developmental roadmap for Baramulla and Sopore towns of north Kashmir keeping in view their historical importance and future challenges of development.
While reviewing the pace of various developmental projects in Baramulla and Sopore at a meeting of officials here on Friday, the Chief Minister asked the executing agencies prioritise projects of urban infrastructure and complete them soon.
She directed immediate start of work on the 32-km Baramulla-Baba Reshi Road which connects Baramulla with the world-famous resort of Gulmarg. She also directed taking up road projects like shumlaran and kawahara to enhance intra and district connectivity in the area. She asked the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, to identify a spot for creating a parking slot in the main market.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the pace of various developmental projects in the Sopore town. She was informed that the transfer of 43 kanals for setting up a mini-secretariat was in process while land was being identified for developing a modern bus terminal in the town.
She was informed that the establishment of Sopore Nursing College was apace besides a maternity hospital for which requisite staff was being made available. Besides, work on the Rs 9.77-crore Maharaj Pora Bridge was underway for which the Chief Minister directed expediting the completion.
