I-T raids premises of ex-minister’s kin

The income tax (I-T) department on Thursday carried out searches at the residential house and a business complex belonging to a relative of Imran Ansari, a former minister in the erstwhile PDP-BJP coalition government, over tax evasion.

Srinagar April 25

The income tax (I-T) department on Thursday carried out searches at the residential house and a business complex belonging to a relative of Imran Ansari, a former minister in the erstwhile PDP-BJP coalition government, over tax evasion.

I-T officials assisted by the local police and CRPF raided the premises of Aga Sayed Altaf, who runs a business of medical-surgical items at Karan Nagar and Alamgiri Bazaar in Srinagar.

“Our officials raided the business outlet and house of Aga Syed Altaf on Thursday in a tax evasion case,” an I-T official said. The team comprised officials from outside the state, he said.

However, he said raids were in no way connected to Ansari, who joined the People’s Conference recently.

Meanwhile, Ansari refuted rumours of alleged EDraids on any of his houses. —TNS
