The district administration on Tuesday relaxed restrictions in a phased manner in some more parts of Jammu. The Army deployed in the city too has been withdrawn.

On the fifth day, two hours of relaxation was a big relief to the locals who were stuck inside their houses and deprived of ration, vegetables, milk and fuel, etc.

After reviewing the situation in the city, District Magistrate Ramesh Kumar on Tuesday eased restrictions at Peer Mitha and Nowabad from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm then from 3 pm to 5 pm at Janipur, bus stand area, Bakshi Nagar and Pucca Danga followed by from 5 pm to 7 pm in south Jammu.

However, Section 144 of the CrPC, which prohibits the gathering of four or more people at one place, remained in force during  the curfew relaxation.

The police said the situation remained peaceful throughout the day.

Sources, however, said the administration might lift the curfew from the city, if the situation remained peaceful till Wednesday morning.
