Traders defer bandh call for Monday

JAMMU: The traders and transporters of Jammu, who had called for Jammu bandh on Monday over the “non-serious attitude” of the state administration regarding their demands, deferred their call on the request of the district administration here this evening.

The traders and transporters of Jammu, who had called for Jammu bandh on Monday over the “non-serious attitude” of the state administration regarding their demands, deferred their call on the request of the district administration here this evening.

Rakesh Gupta, TS Wazir, chairman, J&K Transport Welfare Association, and Rajesh Sharma, chairman, J&K Kissan Council, accompanied by office-bearers of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) and the transport associations met Deputy Commissioner Sushma Chauhan and SSP Jammu Tajinder Pal Singh, after which they announced to defer the bandh call.

The chamber said the delegation urged that in future before taking any policy decisions, the stakeholders must be consulted and then only decisions taken. On the assurance of the Governor as conveyed by the district administration, it was decided to defer the bandh call for September 16 and that future course of action shall only be decided in case the genuine demands were addressed and accepted.
