People’s Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone along with former minister Imran Raza Ansari met Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhawan here on Saturday.

Discussing various developmental issues of their respective areas, they projected demands, including sanctioning of the water supply scheme for Parihaspora, expansion of Imambara at Zaidibal and compensation to the fire victims of Handwara whose property was gutted in a recent fire incident.

They also discussed the issue of the Fruit Mandi Association, Sopore, and sought its early redressal.

Discussing the issue of reservation to Pahari and economically weaker sections of society, they sought assent of the Governor to the J&K Reservation Amendment Bill which has already been passed in the Legislature during their ministership. Malik urged Lone and Ansari to continue their endeavours for promoting public welfare and development of their respective areas.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the Zanskar subdivision of Kargil led by Stanzin Lakpa, councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, met the Governor here on Sunday.

The delegation requested the Governor to grant adequate funds for the international conference to be held next year at Karsha Monastery, Zanskar. The conference would be organised for the first time in the Zanskar division of the Ladakh region so as to revive and preserve the Nalanda tradition of Buddhist philosophy.

The delegation extended an invitation to the Governor for participating in the annual Monastic Festival (Karshagustar) to be held in July this year. The delegation also raised some demands, including the speedy construction of the Nimmo-Padum-Darcha road — TNS
