Youth to run 200-km ultramarathon

SRINAGAR: Hamid Aziz, a young athlete from Srinagar, will attempt a 200-km non-stop ultramarathon on Sunday.

Srinagar: Hamid Aziz, a young athlete from Srinagar, will attempt a 200-km non-stop ultramarathon on Sunday. The 'Kargil-Srinagar ultramarathon' is being held with the support of the tourism department and the JK Adventure Sports Club. Aziz had completed a 110-km run from Srinagar to Baltal via Sonmarg in Ganderbal district in October last year. He shot to prominence after completing a 60-km run alongside Australian marathoner Pat Farmer in a single day in March last year. "Hamid Aziz has completed several marathons before and it will be a great achievement if he completes the 200-km run in 24 hours on Sunday," said an official of the tourism department. TNS
