In consonance with the announcement of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to extend relief worth Rs 10 crore from the state to flood-ravaged Kerala, the Jalandhar administration would airlift 1,000 quintals of ready-to-eat food material from the Adampur airbase on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, Varinder Kumar Sharma, who monitored the entire exercise of packaging the food material here on Sunday, said one lakh food packets were being made in the district for distribution in the flood-affected state.

He said each pack would have one big and two small packets of biscuits, tea, sugar, a bottle of water and milk powder. Sharma said the entire process of packaging would be completed by this evening and the food would be airlifted on Monday from the Adampur airbase.

The Deputy Commissioner said to complete the exercise, nearly 1,000 labourers had been deployed.

He said 20 senior officers of the district administration, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Jitendra Jorwal were overseeing the arrangements for completing the exercise smoothly without any hassle.

He said the entire country, especially the residents of the city, would ensure all help to them in this hour of crisis.

Sharma said as Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had already announced help to the state, the district would ensure its maximum participation in the noble cause.
