City boy wins Asian youth athletics meet in Bangkok

JALANDHAR: Gurinderveer Singh (16) has brought laurels to the city by winning a gold medal in the 100-metre event at the Asian Youth Athletics Championship which concluded today at Bangkok.

Gurinderveer Singh (16) has brought laurels to the city by winning a gold medal in the 100-metre event at the Asian Youth Athletics Championship which concluded today at Bangkok.

Gurinderveer has won the medal by setting a record of 10.77 seconds. Earlier too, he won a gold medal in the national athletics meet and created a national record by completing the race in 10.69 seconds. However, with this new feat to his kitty, Gurinderveer has reportedly become the fastest sprinter in Asia.

He is a student of Class XII of Cambridge School. Gurinderveer’s father was also a former national-level basketball player. The school authorities congratulated the winner and extended good wishes to his parents. On this occasion, Chairman Ajay Bhatia, Deputy Chairman Deepak Bhatia, Executive Director LWES (Cambridge managing group) JK Kohli applauded him for the prestigious win in the championship and wished him luck in the pursuit of his goals in future.
