DC announces dry day

JALANDHAR: Exercising the power conferred under Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma declared dry day in the areas under the Municipal Corporation (MC) and municipal committees of Bhogpur and Goraya besides the nagar panchayats of Shahkot and Bilga where elections are to be held tomorrow.

Exercising the power conferred under Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma declared dry day in the areas under the Municipal Corporation (MC) and municipal committees of Bhogpur and Goraya besides the nagar panchayats of Shahkot and Bilga where elections are to be held tomorrow.

In the orders issued today, the DC said these orders would be applicable from December 16-17 midnight and would remain enforced for 24 hours till the midnight intervening December 17 and 18. The liquor vends would remain closed. There would also be a ban on storing liquor. This order would be applicable on hotel, clubs and other places having licence to serve liquor.
