Hoshiarpur, January 20

DAV Model School, here, celebrated its annual day function in the campus located on Shamchaurasi Road. Vijay Sampla, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, was the chief guest. The programme was chaired by Anup Kumar, Chairman of DAV College Management Committee, while secretary of the committee, former Principal DL Anand joined as the special guest.

In his address, Union MoS Vijay Sampla, said the today’s society needed value education. “There is an utter need of educating the students with a mix of moral and ethical values and modern education. The efforts being made for the promotion of education by the DAV institutions and for upgradation of ethical values in the students are commendable,” he said. He appealed to the teachers to teach students the art to live well, as well as teach them how to become a good human being and manage their relationships and responsibilities judiciously. Sampla promised every kind of cooperation in the development of the school.

In his presidential address, Anoop Kumar appealed to the students to work hard and urged parents to give parental care to their children and focus on their good health. He asked parents to keep children away from junk food and cold drinks and make them eat good food, have good education and become good citizens. 

Prior to this, in his welcome speech, Anand welcomed Sampla and appreciated the work done by Sampla. He said, “Sampla started his life as a labourer and with honesty and integrity reached at the helm of affairs. His journey from labour to the Union minister acts as a light house for everyone and studntes should learn from it”said he. School Principal AP Singh presented the annual report of the school and thanked all.

The cultural programme began with a dance performance on Satyam Shivam Sundaram -by the students. Students of pre-primary classes performed various events.  A skit inspiring parents to focus attention on children and revealing the disadvantages of their ignorance, was highly appreciated.
