As the government is planning to implement the GST from July 1, field offices of Central Excise and Service Tax are being reorganised under the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC).
IRS Neeraj Soi said since the migration of present tax payers of Central Excise and Service Tax to the new GST regime was the most crucial step towards the implementation of the GST, therefore, Naresh Penumaka, IRS Commissioner, Central Excise Commissionerate, Ludhiana and Jalandhar, held a meeting of CAs, advocates, consultants and trade and industry representatives to discuss about immediate migration to GST.
He said the CAs and consultants were requested that migration to GST must be completed by April 30 so as to avoid lapse of CENVAT Credit as well as to ensure smooth business process. The Central Excise Commissionerate at Ludhiana and Jalandhar have set up many service centres at headquarters, divisions. at range level as well as mobile Seva Kendras, where migration to GST is done free of cost.
