Munish Kumar, an NRI, originally hailing from Kartarpur, alleged inaction by the police for failing to register an FIR over his complaint or to initiate an investigation against miscreants who had allegedly stolen his luggage from an Indo-Canadian bus while he was returning to Jalandhar from the Delhi airport on October 17.

Munsih said on October 16 he took a flight from Canada for the New Delhi International Airport and on October 17 around 3.15 am, he reached the Delhi airport from where he took the Indo-Canadian bus for Jalandhar at 6:15 am.

He said after taking passengers from Delhi, the bus stopped at the Phagwara Indo-Canadian office and many of the passengers got off the vehicle.

He said after reaching Jalandhar when he asked the conductor for his luggage, he realised that one of his bags was missing.

“I rushed to the driver and also filed a complaint at the Indo-Canadian main office in Jalandhar where they showed me the CCTV footage. It was clear in the footage that a girl and a boy who got off the bus in Phagwara stole my bag,” Munish said, adding that when he asked about the contact information of the two passengers from Indo-Canadian officials, he was shocked to know they had no details of them.

He said his bag contained important documents, including his Canadian work permit, Canadian licence, SIN number, MSP letter, 1000 USD and 30P Sterling Pound.

Kapurthala SSP Satinder Singh said the police were trying their level best to nab the culprits and he had told the SHO to look into the matter.
