PU prof accuses trainee SI of harassment

HOSHIARPUR: An Assistant professor of Panjab University has filed a complaint against an under training police sub inspector (SI) for allegedly exploiting and harrasing her physically and mentally.

An Assistant professor of Panjab University has filed a complaint against an under training police sub inspector (SI) for allegedly exploiting and harrasing her physically and mentally.

The trainee sub inspector who is stated to be the son of a senior police officer of Punjab is allegedly undergoing training at the PPA, Phillaur. Earlier, he was pursuing LLB at the PU regional centre in Hoshiarpur and during that period, he allegedly became close to a woman assistant professor.

In her complaint sent to the DGP and other senior police officials, the complainant had alleged that the accused wanted to have a relationship with her on the pretex of marriage but she came to know that he was ditching her. She saw some objectiobale photgraphs of women in his mobile phone. Hence, she started to keep herself away from him. Later, he started threatening her and putting pressure on her. She also accused him of manhandling her and threatening her to not to file any complaint against him.

She has levelled several other allegations against the trainee SI and sent a copy of the complaint to the Punjab State Woman Commission too. It is learnt that the commission has summoned the accused on September 24. Meanwhile, Hoshiarpur SSP was not available for comment.
