Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in the district on Wednesday.

The first accident occurred at Talwara. Akash Pathania, Jasveer Singh, a resident of Namoli, a village close to the Talwara town, and Vijay Singh, a resident of Fatehpur, were going on a motorcycle to meet a friend living in Pathankot. When they crossed Mukerian, and reached Talwara Jattan village, near Meerthal, an unknown vehicle hit their motorcycle. Akash died on the spot. Jagdev Singh, a former sarpanch of Namoli village, said Akash was his nephew and he was survived by parents and a sister. Vijay was seriously injured in the accident. He was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Pathankot, for treatment.

In another accident that occurred near Mohalla Fatehgarh in Hoshiarpur city, Soni Ram, a resident of Vijay Nagar here, died after being hit by an unidentified tractor-trailer. He was taken to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police have registered an FIR against unknown driver on the complaint of Harshdeep, the son of the deceased.
