With a view to give fillip to the ongoing initiatives for bringing in qualitative improvement in education, the state government is going to convert as many as 259 government high and senior secondary schools of 217 educational blocks into ‘smart schools’.

These schools would be equipped with high-tech facilities like smart class rooms, RO system, solar power system, uniformity in colour coding and landscaping.

The Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar exhorted the heads of Smart Schools to become ambassadors of quality education. He held a meeting with the school heads of the ‘Smart Schools’ at the PSEB Auditorium on Thursday.

While lauding the efforts of the most of the school heads and teachers for mobilizing community support for ensuring infrastructure facilities in their respective schools to provide better educational environment to the students, Krishan Kumar said the ‘Smart School’ project would further boost their energies to develop the infrastructure in their schools in a well-planned manner.

The concept of smart school would ultimately help the teachers in making the learning process interesting and effective. The students of the government schools would have an access to the ‘e-content’ of the topics related to the syllabus of different subjects and English would be the medium of instruction, which will enable the students to face the challenges of the present era, he said.

Besides, the smart schools would also cater to the special educational needs of the girl students, he further said.
