In a lehenga made by Ludhiana-based designers Rimple and Harpreet Narula, comedian Kapil Sharma’s bride Ginni Chatrath looked absolutely stunning as she walked into the pandal last night, ahead of the wedding. The colour of the huge pandal was in the same golden and red combination.

Kapil complimented her in a mehndi-coloured sherwani, which matched well with Ginni’s jewellery. She wore many accessories, including a big nose ring, maatha patti, heavy kundan earrings and long kaleere, along with her red choora. Kapil wore a light golden-coloured turban, which had three big pieces of kundan jewellery on it for embellishment on the side, instead of a single kalgi at the centre. Kapil looked a little different in a bearded face. There was no jai mala, which is otherwise a common ritual in weddings.

Happy times

The couple danced to the numbers sung by Gurdas Maan. Other Punjabi singers who attended the wedding included Ranjit Bawa, Malkiat Singh and Jasbir Jassi. Comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi joined the couple near the stage as Maan charged up the atmosphere with his Dil da mamla hai and Jugni on stage in jugalbandi with Sardool Sikandar. No Bollywood celebrity other than director brothers Abbas-Mastan made it to the wedding.

The Hindu wedding rituals lasted till 5:30 am after which the family reached Ginni’s home at Hardev Nagar where Anand Karaj was performed at around 7 am. Ginni hails from a Sikh family in Jalandhar.

Among guests who turned up at the occasion was cricketer-politician Navjot S Sidhu, who featured in his show Comedy Nights with Kapil, OP Soni and Sukhjinder Randhawa. Kapil’s friends from his comedy show, Bharti Singh, Simona Chaturvedi and Krushna Abhishek, were present as well.
