LUDHIANA: Three persons, including a woman and a boy, lost their lives in the city and suburbs in the past 48 hours in separate hit-and-run cases. None of the suspects involved in the accidents has been arrested so far.

Three persons, including a woman and a boy, lost their lives in the city and suburbs in the past 48 hours in separate hit-and-run cases. None of the suspects involved in the accidents has been arrested so far.

Sunita Rani (45), a resident of Nangal, died after she was hit by a speeding car while walking on foot on the left side of the GT Road opposite Sidak Palace. The victim, along with her relative Shikha Rani, also a resident of Nangal, and her brother Rajinder Kumar, was going to her parental house in Chhawni Mohalla. Shikha also suffered injuries in the accident.

According to complainant Rajinder, he took both her sisters - Sunita and Shikha - to Dayanand Hospital, where the former succumbed to her injuries. The Salem Tabri police have registered a case under Sections 279, 337, 338 and 304-A of the IPC.

In another case, Lov Kumar (11), son of Sajjan Sahni, a resident of Gill village, lost his life after his bicycle was hit by a speeding motorcycle bearing registration number PB-30-2848 near the McDonald Chowk. The boy, who was heading back to his residence, sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. Owing to his critical condition, he was referred to the Civil Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

The Dehlon police have registered a case under Sections 279, 304-A and 427 of the IPC.

In yet another fatal mishap, Vijay Partap Singh (58), who was working in a factory in the Focal Point, Phase V, was killed after his bicycle was hit by a motorcycle bearing registration number PB-36F-7660 coming from the wrong side near the State Bank of India, Mundia Kalan branch.

On the complaint of Manpreet Singh, nephew of the deceased, the Focal Point police have registered a case under Sections 279, 304-A and 427 of the IPC.

The police have launched a manhunt to nab the suspects.

  • Vijay Partap Singh (58) died after his bicycle was hit by a motorcycle.
