Beekeeping training course for SCs begins

LUDHIANA: A five-day basic beekeeping training course for scheduled castes began at the village Maherna, district Ludhiana, today.

Ludhiana, May 22

A five-day basic beekeeping training course for scheduled castes began at the village Maherna, district Ludhiana, today. The course has been organised by the Department of Entomology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), under the aegis of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna.

Dr RS Gill, Head, Department of Entomology, said the training is meant for providing employment alternatives to the unprivileged strata of the society to make them earn their livelihood and to provide them social and economic security in an ecologically acceptable manner.

Dr Pardeep Kumar Chhuneja, Course Director, said the training course will cover various aspects of commercial apiculture viz. acquaintance with hive and apicultural appliances, seasonal management of apismellifera and many more.
