Nutritional garden at varsity

Ludhiana: The CT University has developed a model crop demonstration farm at its campus, which showcases production techniques of crops, vegetables and fruits for its agriculture students.



Ludhiana: The CT University has developed a model crop demonstration farm at its campus, which showcases production techniques of crops, vegetables and fruits for its agriculture students. Along with the crop production and protection, the students are educated about food and nutritional security.  The students are provided hands-on-training at this farm right from bed making and sowing to the harvest of the crop and highlighted with importance of kitchen garden. Yogeeta Thakur, Head, School of Agriculture and Natural Sciences said the facility was greatly fruitful for students of agriculture. For pharmacy students, a section of herbal medicinal and aromatic plants has been created. Vice Chancellor, Dr Harsh Sadawarti, remarked that the garden ensures an inexpensive, regular and handy delivery of fresh vegetables which are basic to nutrition. The vitamins and minerals rich green vegetables protect us against diseases, and the fresh and organic farm produce is supplied to the hostel mess for cooking on daily basis. TNS

Seven-day NSS camp 

The local unit of NSS organized a seven day camp at GTB National College, Dakha, in which around 100 students of the college volunteered to participate. Principal Avtar Singh welcomed the guests and lauded the efforts of NSS coordinators and student volunteers. Deepak kumar, a professor,  read the report of the NSS Camp wherein he mentioned the activities undertaken by the students, including visit to Bal Ashram Talwandi Dham and participation in state level nagarkirtan at SultanpurLodhi, Yoga camp, cleanliness drive etc. The students also volunteered to clean the surroundings of the college. 

Cleanliness drive

The third day of NSS camp at Malwa Central College of Education began with morning assembly, along with thought of the day. The day began with yoga session. Then the volunteers visited Tajpur road area where the cleaning of Buddha Nallah project has been going on. There NSS volunteers conducted survey to get feedback from the residents residing adjoining Buddha Nallah regarding cleaning Project. Sukhwinder Singh Namdhari, under Baba Uday Singh Namdhari Muhim has taken the initiative to clean the Budha Nallah near Jail, Tajpur Road. Jasmeet Kaur, co-ordinator ‘Aan Milao Driayo’ NGO aware NSS volunteers about polluting the water bodies by human beings and gave the various suggestion to keep the water bodies clean. After coming back to the college, discussion on findings of the survey was carried out by NSS Volunteers. Major findings of the survey are that to clean the Buddha Nallah government should make the existing treatment plant operative, government should force dying industry to install their treatment plants and government should provide dumps container for collection of garbage and polythene.
