Divam Gupta stars in Teji Club’s victory

LUDHIANA: A deadly bowling spell by Divam Gupta (5 for 11) today helped Teji Club beat Chaman Lal Malhotra XI by 5 wickets in the opening match in the U-12 section during the ongoing Cricket Tournament for Mahajan Trophy being conducted at GRD Academy, Hambran Road.

A deadly bowling spell by Divam Gupta (5 for 11) today helped Teji Club beat Chaman Lal Malhotra XI by 5 wickets in the opening match in the U-12 section during the ongoing Cricket Tournament for Mahajan Trophy being conducted at GRD Academy, Hambran Road.

Three teams in the U-12 category and four teams in the U-14 group are taking part in the tournament.

Opting to field first, Teji Club restricted Chaman Lal Malhotra XI to a meagre total of 74 runs in 19.4 overs. Rehaan made 19 runs while Karan and Lovish contributed eight runs each.

Divam Gupta ripped apart Chaman Lal Malhotra XI’s batting line-up, claiming five wickets for just 11 runs. He was ably assisted by Rocky who got rid of three batsmen after giving away 16 runs. Sanaa Prashar got one wicket for 12 runs.

The target set by Chaman Lal Malhotra XI turned out to be a small one as Teji Club surpassed the total after losing five wickets in 18.2 overs.

Yuvraj was the main contributor who made 42 runs. Ayush and Krsihna scored six runs each while Divam Gupta remained unbeaten on five runs. For the losing side, Karan, Aarav, Pranay, Harkaran and Lovish scalped one victim each.

Divam, for his excellent bowling display, was adjudged man of the match. — OC
