Though early detection of cancer is one of the most important ways to save lives, an integrative approach to diagnosis and care becomes equally important in palliative management of cancer patients and cancer survivors. This was discussed during the International Cancer Care Conference (ICCC 2019), held here today.

The conference highlighted the immediate need for action to incorporate an integrative approach to treat, support and help cancer patients improve their quality of life and survival chances.

The event was co-hosted by AYURWAY. It aims to motivate and inspire individuals, cancer survivors, the medical fraternity and government entities to work towards adopting this approach and identifying the benefits of an inclusive approach.

Co-founder of AYURWAY Dr Sarat Addanki said: “In this edition of the International Cancer Care Conference (ICCC 2019), we want people to know that post-cancer management and cancer prevention can be better managed and delivered if oncology treatment can be approached with an inclusive methodology.”

The event showcased interactive sessions, expert presentations, case studies and discussions covering multi-level approaches to cancer care, cure and prevention.

The ICCC 2019 will act as a platform to benchmark innovative yet traditional methods to address the complexity of oncological diagnosis and treatment. The event brought together professionals from across the healthcare eco system, leading oncology practitioners, Ayurveda proponents, non-profits active in the cancer care and support space and attendees with a stake in creating cancer awareness and prevention.

Key highlights of the conference

  • Preparing the body for cancer treatment
  • Adopting a multi-disciplinary approach
  • The importance of diet and lifestyle in tackling cancer
  • Post-surgical cancer care and improving the quality of life
  • Detection and prevention of cancer incidents
