LUDHIANA: Thieves broke into a jewellery shop and decamped with 30-gram gold jewellery, 1 kg silver, Rs 24,000 and an LCD screen.

Thieves broke into a jewellery shop and decamped with 30-gram gold jewellery, 1 kg silver, Rs 24,000 and an LCD screen. The incident took place on Street Number 4 of Dhillon Nagar located on Daba Road on Monday night.

The incident came to light next morning when a neighbouring shopkeeper informed the shop owner about the theft.

According to sources, the thieves entered the shop by breaking the back wall of the shop. Shop owner Baljit Singh of Azad Nagar informed the police that he closed his shop around 9 pm on Monday night.

“In the morning, my neighbouring shopkeeper, Keshaw, arrived at my house and told me about the theft. When I reached there I found the back wall of the shop broken and gold, silver and an LCD missing. Besides, Rs 24,000 was also stolen,” said Baljit.

Sub-Inspector Paramjit Singh said the police had registered a case under Section 457 and 380 of the IPC against unidentified persons in this regard and further investigation was on.
