Sports is the best activity to channelise energy of the youth. It is imperative to encourage sports so that the youth remain busy in constructive activities and stay away from vices like drug addiction.

However, sports infrastructure is woefully inadequate in the city. At the most, children from the rich and the moneyed class have access to sports facilities. For the rest, these facilities remain more or less non-existent. Schools, too, fare no better. Many schools, running from residential quarters, hardly have any provision for playgrounds.

It is time to make it mandatory not just on paper, but in actuality for all schools to have playgrounds so that students get acquainted with sports culture. Team spirit and discipline are the values that we definitely will like the youth to imbibe.
